NB North Energy and Jordan join forces for a greener future for the country
Jordan’s rapidly growing population and urbanization have exacerbated the nation’s waste management issues. The country generates substantial amounts of waste, much of which ends up in landfills, contributing to environmental degradation and public health concerns. At the same time, Jordan faces a severe energy crisis, with limited natural resources and a heavy reliance on energy imports. These factors make the transition to sustainable practices not just desirable but essential for the country’s future.
NB North Energy recognizes these challenges and sees an opportunity to bring its expertise to bear in helping Jordan navigate this complex landscape. The company’s vision for Jordan is rooted in a holistic approach that integrates advanced waste management, renewable energy production, and climate change mitigation into a cohesive strategy for sustainable development.
At the core of NB North Energy’s vision for a sustainable Jordan is the implementation of the company’s advanced waste-to-energy systems, including the HTC (Hydrothermal Carbonization) System designed to convert various types of waste—such as plastics, solid waste, and organic materials—into valuable resources. These resources include green electricity, which can help reduce Jordan’s dependence on fossil fuels, and other by-products like green hydrogen and organic fertilizers.
The HTC System is particularly suited to Jordan’s needs, as it offers a highly efficient method of waste conversion with minimal environmental impact. Less than 5% of the processed waste ends up as bottom ash, making it one of the most efficient waste-to-energy technologies available. By adopting such technologies, Jordan could significantly reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills, mitigating the associated environmental and health risks.
Beyond waste management, NB North Energy’s waste-to-energy plants would not only provide a sustainable source of electricity but also contribute to the Kingdom’s energy security. By diversifying its energy portfolio and reducing its reliance on imported fossil fuels, Jordan could achieve greater energy independence and stability.
In addition to addressing waste management and energy security, NB North Energy’s vision for Jordan is deeply aligned with global efforts to combat climate change. By converting waste into renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Jordan can lower its carbon footprint and meet its environmental targets.
In this context, talks have been held and a preliminary agreement has been reached between the Jordanian authorities and NB North Energy to implement a large-scale project based on the company’s solutions.
